Despite its relatively short history, Iran’s ornamental fish breeding sector has experienced notable strides, transforming into a lucrative and expanding industry.
Capitalizing on Iran’s conducive capabilities for ornamental fish breeding and the establishment of numerous breeding centers, the nation’s annual production of these exquisite fish has surged from a modest 2.3 million specimens to an impressive 323 million over the past decade.
-- Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant’s output exceeds 60b kw h: AEOI
Total electricity produced at Iran’s only nuclear power plant after some 12 years of activity has reached 60 billion kilowatt hours (kw/h), according to the country’s nuclear chief.
Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami said that the electricity produced at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) has enabled Iran to reduce its consumption of oil for power generation purposes by 90 million barrels.

Iran ranks 19th in the world’s annual strongest naval forces list, with a score of 50.3.
According to the World Directory of Modern Military Warships (2023) list, Iran’s Navy has surpassed Canada, Brazil, Australia, Greece, the Netherlands, Ukraine, and Belgium, securing the 19th position globally. The Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran has earned a score of 50.3, based on its 66 active units up until November 2022.

-- Qaemian Named Consultant to Film Festival of Ethnicities
Renowned Iranian actor Farhad Qaemian has been selected as the supreme consultant of the first edition of the National Film Festival of Iranian Ethnicities. Mehdi Heydari, the head of the National Film Festival of Iranian Ethnicities, appointed Qahemian as the supreme consultant of the event.
Qahemian is a cinema, theater and television actor and has played various and lasting roles in various works. He has also the experience of judging at various festivals in his artistic portfolio.
-- Female Ambassador Unveils 9 Books at Farewell Event
Iranian Ambassador to Brunei Homeira Rigi has unveiled nine books in a ceremony in the country as part of efforts to give a boost to scientific and academic cooperation between Iran and Brunei.
A number of Brunei-based foreign diplomats, university professors and students and Iranian nationals participated in the ceremony.
The books unveiled in the ceremony included seven titles jointly published by Iran and Brunei and two others published by the Iranian embassy in Brunei. The ceremony marked the denouement in Rigi’s mission which she had undertaken to bolster scientific and academic exchanges with Brunei.
-- Iraqi, Iranian Universities Discuss Scientific Exchanges
The University of Tehran is ready to expand scientific collaboration with Iraqi universities including on exchange of professors and students., its president Muhammad Moghimi has said.
Moghimi made the remarks in a meeting with president of the Al-Furat al-Awsat Technical University of Iraq Abdul Muhsin Naji Al-Muhaisen at the office of the president of the University of Tehran on Sundayhere.
He touched on the establishment of a new Persian language education center near the Iraqi border city of Basra in a bid to provide the Iraqi people with easy access to Persian language education.

-- UNESCO-designated edifices undergo photogrammetric documentation
A photogrammetric documentation project has commenced on two of the iconic edifices inside the UNESCO-registered Golestan Palace in downtown Tehran. Shams-ol-Emareh and Emarat-e Badgir will be accurately documented by the means of a photogrammetric method, Afarin Emami, who presides over the World Heritage site said on Sunday.
Pointing out that photogrammetry is one of the most accurate methods of documenting historical monuments, Emami said: “This method can produce a variety of outputs, including two-dimensional linear maps, flat photos, and three-dimensional models.”
-- UNHCR appreciates Iran for generously hosting refugees
Inna Gladkova, the officer in charge of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Iran, has appreciated the country for generously hosting refugees. She assessed the formation of the National Migration Organization as a positive step in improving the situation of refugees and organizing them, ISNA reported.
She made the remarks in a meeting in Tehran on Thursday, August 3, with Ruhollah Qaderi, the National Migration Organization’s director for international affairs.
-- Tehran, Damascus open new chapter in political, economic relations
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s visit to Syria in May marked a new turning point in the two countries’ ever-growing relations as it was the first visit by an Iranian president to Damascus since the start of the foreign-backed violence in Syria. Although Iran has always been a strong ally of Syria, this landmark visit has opened a new chapter in the political and economic relations between the two countries.
The two allies are now more determined to take significant measures for further strengthening of bilateral relations, especially in the economic sector.
